For Jaguar XJS Post-facelift (1993, 1994, 1995, 1996)

This is an aftermarket (non-Jaguar) part, made in fiberglass (not the original urethane or similar plastic), follows the same curves as the original, and is difficult to tell from original once painted and fitted.  It fits post-facelift models (convertible or coupe) only.  This is generally 1992 to 1996 models.  Fiberglass is less flexible than the original, which means that the lower part has less tendency to ‘droop’, but conversely is harder and stiffer.

This part is supplied in white gel coat finish and is ready for preparation and painting.  It may require very minor fettling (filing or sanding) in a few areas around the wheel arch, to ensure a good fit (this is deliberate because the added material that can be left makes it stronger), and flatting before painting.   Mounting holes along the top of the cover may need enlarging (pilot holes are drilled already).  The original cover has very large slotted holes, which your can file into the new one, or just drill out the pilot holes a little larger until everything lines up

The two mounting plates (one on each side of the old bumper cover) must be removed from the old assembly for re-use.  This will require the drilling out of two rivets (may be plastic or metal) on each side   Once removed, the two (2) metal plates with threads (3) attached must be riveted onto the new bumper cover.  The new cover has holes pre-drilled for mounting these.

All of the above operations can be handled by a competent do-it-yourself mechanic, or can be left for any competent body shop.
It is suggested that preparation, painting and final re-fitting be carried out by professionals.  There will be minor blemishes, as with any fiberglass molding, and these must be rectified by the body shop as part of the preparation for painting.

The overall weight of the bumper cover is approximately 14 lbs once painted, but may vary as the fiberglass is hand laid in the mold.
